The Key Box

There was other stuff in the dream but I'll start at the part where the intense part begins happening. Me and a friend (I can't remember who it is now, but in my dream it was someone I know, a dude about my height) were opening puzzle boxes to find treasure inside.  The boxes were difficult to open, they were some sort of bronze-gold metal with weird lids that fold and stuff. Inside each box were smaller boxes and really simple riddles to pick which one had the treasure, like "Find the one with the demon" would  mean it's the mini-box with the demon face carved on it. Then somehow we'd get the key and open the box to get the treasure (I don't remember what it is).

Then we came to a box where all the boxes were opened with keys in the key holes. All the treasure was already taken. The old man in the room with us, the keeper of the boxes, just stood there with his hands behind his back with a mild look on his face.

"Someone took the treasure already," I said.

My friend started getting angry. And somehow we had killed someone and hidden the corpse in one of the boxes and stuffed it back under the bed without the old man knowing (either my dream skipped this part or I forgot how this happened). I thought, "Poor old man... the corpse is going to stink up pretty badly."

Then I told my friend, "Hey... we can't do this to the old man. We're both going to get caught and get arrested. You can't get away with murder, we're both the last ones here."

"No, don't tell him," my friend said, getting agitated.

Then something clicked in my mind (the dream changed at this point, apparently we just found the corpse and didn't murder anyone) -- we didn't kill him anyway, we just found him dead. We should just tell the old man that we already found him dead but didn't want to seem suspicious. Since we didn't murder the guy there'd be no evidence for us, and we'd be in a lot less trouble if we just tell him we found the body.

So I told the old man.

Suddenly my friend shouts at me, "You ****ing betrayed me! Don't ****ing lie, you did it with me! Don't pretend you're an angel!"

"What are you talking about?" I asked, confused and surprised. "We just found the corpse!"

My friend bursts out into tears. To my further surprise, the old man walks to my friend and hugs him and whispers to him something I can't hear, but I understand that he's telling my friend that he'll get rid of the corpse for us and tell nobody. We thank the old man over and over.

Suddenly, from the next room over, we hear a whisper. Then crazy, manic laughter. The old man freezes and peeks out the door into the next room, which is pitch black.

"What is that?" I ask.

"Shh," says the old man, a look of concern crossing over his face as he listens harder.

We hear more. Laughter and whispering and low talking, lots of it as if coming from a deep tunnel.

"Demons are coming," said the old man, indicating the pitch black room.

At this point I have this really strong feeling of fear. I sneak down the hallway to the kitchen to get a drink of water from the sink, but hundreds of little leaves spurt out of the faucet along with dirty water, making it undrinkable. I go back to the room.

"We need to leave," said the old man. "Now be quiet, don't run or they'll follow us."

We sneak down the hallway and out the patio door. Now my friend is suddenly my brother. As soon as we made it outside, the whispering and insane laughter gets louder.

"They're coming now, quickly!" said the old man. I quickly shut the lights off in the room so they don't have a trail of light to follow and at least delay them for a few seconds, then realized we left all the other lights off.

"Hurry!" I shut the patio door and walked out to the backyard with them. It's night time and all the stars are out and it's really beautiful! Clear sky, no winds and everything. Stars everywhere.

We hear the insane laughter getting closer. More fear, almost crippling feeling, like they're right behind us.

"I can fly! We can get away from them. They can't fly. Chris, can you fly?" I said desperately. I don't want to
leave Chris behind and I don't want to leave the old man to get whatevered by the demons.

"Yeah!"

"Come on, grab him and let's go!" I yelled. I flapped my arms and could fly immediately, so I grabbed on of the old man's arms and Chris grabbed the other and we quickly flew up into the trees. Flight is smooth, and I remember in my other recent flight dreams where it was hard for me to fly. So... probably means I knew I was dreaming in my dream, but I was also treating it as real? Don't know.

"Don't go too high, we're only going to drop him off in Quincy. Faster, they're chasing and can jump!" I said.

We could feel the demons coming after us. Fly faster!

Soon we were way too high, so high that we couldn't even see individual cities. Everything was just blobs of light. "Whoa we are way too high!" I said.

The old man just patiently was suspended between the both of us. I shifted position and put his arm around my neck and supported his butt with another arm so he wasn't just hanging from his arms. At this point I'm sure we've lost the demons.

"Go lower," I said. Me and Olivia flew lower, but we were going WAY too fast, the cities and buildings just rushed really fast past us, and highways, and I didn't even know where we were anymore. "Where are we?"
I felt we were probably way up north. We were near a high way now, and the old man was getting too heavy to fly too high. It was getting lighter now, making it easier for people to see us. "Go invisible," I told Olivia. Olivia has more psychic powers than me so we just made ourselves and the old man invisible to fly safely. I had a back-up plan already. If we couldn't find Quincy in time, then we needed to drop this man off in a safe place and give him enough money to start life over (for some reason it didn't occur to me that he could just find his way back to the old place, with today's technology and everything...).

It's daylight now and we're zooming down a highway with lots of cranes swinging around. Don't want to smash our old man on those things. Very dangerous.

"Too much traffic! They'll see us!" I said nervously. If they see us, we'll be on the news and we won't be able to live quiet lives anymore.

"We're invisible!" replied Olivia.

But I noticed that when we pass construction workers, they look up and stare at us. They don't freak out though, they just look up at stare. "They can see us, definitely," I said. But maybe only part of the invisibility is working, so they think they're hallucinating.

Anyway we've been flying for a long time, so we stop in a cozy little town. This town, now that I'm awake,

I've been to this town many times before in my dreams. Same baseball court with the big fences, same road layouts... maybe it's not the same exact layout since the dream could switch up little details, but it's the same town. Anyway, we touch down.

"Olivia, give him the money," I said. Olivia gave him a huge fan of bills, because part of her super abilities is she can duplicate money with her mind. There's about $10,000. "Take this money and live a new life. Invest in it. It's not a lot but this is yours now."

"Thank you," said the old man. I was kind of sad to leave him behind, because he's so mild-mannered and never gave us trouble.

Then me and Olivia turn away and walk down the street. We meet a woman walking along the road who says she saw us flying. "Oh crap," I thought. But then something clicks. "Are you a flier?"

"No! I'm not a flier, but there is a flier in this town."

Perfect! Me and Olivia look at each other. There's a weird feeling in my dream now, as if "ending music" is starting. I know it's nearing the end of the dream. We continue walking down the street and mentally plan with each other that we're going to make our new life here. Because if there's a flier in town, that means she (in my dream we knew the flier was a she... somehow) is protecting the town from monster that come at night, and we could find her and team up with her before going back to our demon portal home.

THE END!

Of course there are lots of things that don't make sense, but that's because it's a dream and I'm just telling it as it was in my dream and what I think when I woke up.

Also, before this dream started there was a part about my friends being over at my house for a party or something. I was sitting in between two of my larger friends. It was getting really hot. My large friend on the right keeps trying to put his arm behind me, and eventually just puts his big heavy arm on my head. I'm feeling too lazy and tired to resist it so I just get pushed towards my other large friend, who's very squishy so I just took a nap. Later, they both get up and go, and people start leaving or disappearing from my house which phases into the next part of my dream which I just wrote.
