The Fliers
This one is from May 13, 2009 or 2010.
---
I had this crazy dream last night, it was like a movie almost. I don't remember it all the way but I'll write what I remember. There's a lot of "plot holes" but that's because it's a dream and everything made sense in dreams.
---
There are human beings that can fly, and I was one of them. There are also demon-humans that are trying to enslave all the human beings, but they're very subtle at it. They're tricky and people don't even know that they're being tricked which is very scary and is why the demon-humans are expanding so fast. The Fliers (people that can fly) are a lot less in population because the demon-humans are killing us off and making it so that if the Fliers reveal themselves, the humans will get scared and kill them or drive them out of human society.
First, in the dream I'm walking around Boston, which was kind of mixed with some kind of old looking city with cobblestones and lots of merchants everywhere, like a video game. It's very sunny and I feel nostalgic. I'm just doing routine stuff like patrolling for demon-humans and buying apples from merchants.
Later on, in the evening, I was running from something, so I jumped up and flew as high as I could and headed for the roof of one of the highest buildings in Boston and landed there. I crouched down so nobody on nearby buildings could see me, and then I remembered I was afraid of heights so I just laid down on the ground and didn't move. Soon, six or seven of my Flier friends flew to the building (they're friends from real life too).
"Why are you wearing a bright blue shirt, you idiot? People are going to see you," said one of my friends. I looked down and realized I was wearing my blue tennis shirt which is very easy to see. The others were wearing pale blue or brown colors to blend in with the sky and the city when flying.
"Oops. Well nobody saw me, maybe I should go back and change now," I said.
"Yeah. Well nothing out of the ordinary today so just keep patrolling," said another friend. Some people ruffled their wings and got ready to jump off the building. (Some people had wings some didn't, I didn't have wings but I could fly anyway)
"No don't go yet. If we all go at the same time it'll attract more attention because there's more movement. Go one at a time," I said.
So we left the roof one at a time, until it was just me and my friend left. I realized I brought an umbrella with me. "Oh shoot this is my mom's umbrella, I can't leave it up here. This place is too risky to ever come back again, and flying with it slows me down," I said.
"Well you figure it out," said my friend and flew off.
I swore and held the umbrella trying to figure out what to do, because if I fly with it in my hand it will mess up my turns in case I get chased by demon-humans, and if I stick the umbrella in my pants it'll reduce my mobility in air combat. I ended up putting the umbrella in my pants anyway and jumped out of the building. Immediately a few demon-humans came out of the buildings and came towards me, and I remember being very scared. Fliers are no match for demon-humans because we have no super powers. I broke the umbrella into pieces, feeling very sad because it's my moms, and threw the pieces onto rooftops while I was flying. I finally got away.
At sunset, it was darker so easier for me to fly around without being noticed. More Fliers came out on patrol. Then I noticed humans were EVERYWHERE outside, lining up and sitting in rows, watching a big screen. I glided towards another Flier that was higher rank than me, and she was looking very anxious.
"What's happening?" I asked.
"The demon-humans are revealing their presence AND ours, now! It caught us by surprise. There's too few of us to fight right now, they were gathering right under our nose. It's too late, there will be a war soon," she replied.
The Fliers flew around hopelessly, and many of them returned to the ground to live as human beings to be free of persecution.
"Perhaps you should too," a friend said to me as we stood at the top of a building. It was night now and we looked over the city which had tons of lights. Boston looked like Hong Kong now. There was a breeze. He had wings and I didn't.
"No, because eventually they'll pick us off. I'll just try to fight and if I die then I die," I said. He just nodded and we kept standing there feeling very epic. The point of view went around us in a circle so it looked kind of cool (I looked at myself in 3rd person for this part).
Then somehow it was day again, blazing afternoon. Humans were still sitting in rows very confused, listening to the demon-human leader talking to them, brainwashing them.
"Those Fliers are the enemy!" I heard his echoing voice say.
SHOOOT! I thought, and flew as high as I could into the air. Even more Fliers returned to the ground to live as humans; we were rapidly losing numbers, but I said I would die fighting the demon-humans so I kept flying higher and higher. The demon-humans couldn't fly that high anyway. Suddenly I hit a barrier, I couldn't fly any higher! And then I realized that the sky was just an enormous blue tarp with holes in it. I climbed up on top of the tarp and entered a new dimension of the earth. I was on top of the sky and nobody below could see me, and I wondered if this is where God is sometimes. I was safe from threat at the moment so I walked around watching everything, trying to figure out what to do.
I saw my Flier friend sitting among the humans, pretending to listen and get brainwashed while the demon-human leader was speaking, and I went to the tarp on top of her and jumped on it. She looked up fearfully and said "Is that God?"
"No it's just me! I'm not God I'm me!" I said really loud, but she couldn't hear me. She was very scared.
---
And somehow there was a big war, and the Fliers won. Either I didn't dream this part or I forgot it, which is sad because it would have been cool. Now, I am watching a scene as a 3rd person.
---
The leader of the Flier resistance and his wife are at home, playing with their baby girl. She was about one years old. There are lots of windows in the house and shelves with lots of baby toys and books. The sunlight that comes in is a bit dim because it comes through trees first, so it's green and dappled and very peaceful. The leader and his wife and the baby are laughing and are very happy.
Later on, they put the baby to sleep in another room and the mom and dad sit outside in the living room.
"I'm so glad everything is over. I'm so glad I have you and the baby," said the Flier resistance leader, sitting on the couch and looking out the window.
"Really?" said his wife. Her voice was suddenly very soft, and I felt a growing sense of horror as the watcher.
The Flier resistance turned slowly to look at his wife, feeling suddenly very sad. His wife also turned to look at him, and one of her eyes suddenly sparked, as if it was full of electric energy, and turned bright yellow. Having one bright yellow eye was the mark of a demon-human. She smiled and walked towards him, holding out her hands to softly hold his face. He didn't fight back but looked very sad, because he realized that this entire time, the woman he loved was really just using him for the enemy's purposes.
The next scene was pointed towards the shelves with baby toys and books, and the demon-human wife killed her Flier husband. Intense bursts of radiation and some strange power was melting and destroying all the toys and the shelves and the house. Things were just disintegrating and disappearing, leaving no residue behind. There was some magnetic looking heatwave that just tore things apart and then they all disappeared. While the demon-human wife was destroying the house, I saw the little sleeping girl still in her room, not aware that her mom was a demon-human and not aware that her hero dad was now gone.
Then the scene changes again to later on when humans in radioactive suits were going through the house, taking evidence and seeing what happened. Me and some Flier friends entered the house and went into the room that the humans haven't gotten to yet and found the baby girl. I picked her up and hugged her very tightly and cried while my Flier friends stood by the door to keep watch. By this time I was one of the higher rank Fliers and the dad of the baby was one of my close friends.
"I will avenge your fathers death," I said. The baby just smiled and laughed. I was very sad. She's so innocent. Then I said, "Seal this room, I don't want any humans or demon-humans finding this baby. Buy some time. The war isn't over yet."
My friends did that and I held the baby and went around the room trying to figure out what happened, when I noticed a sudden movement outside in a tree. There was a heat-wave looking thing coming out in soft ripples. Humans wouldn't see it but because I was a Flier I could. There was a demon-human waiting outside. She could see everything inside the room even though I just had the Fliers magically seal it, but she couldn't come in yet.
And then it hit me. The baby I was holding was half demon-human and half Flier. She is very powerful and how she is when she grows up depends on who raises her, so the demon-hunters wanted to grab her and raise her to be a full and very powerful demon-human.
"I won't let that happen to you. Your dad loved you very much but all your mom wants is just to kill everybody. I won't let that happen to you," I repeated to the baby girl. She was still smiling, and I felt very sad again. I said to my friends, "We can't stay here. That demon-human outside is just gonna watch us until more of them arrive and are strong enough to break through the seal."
My Flier friends were very afraid and agitated, and eventually they suddenly burst out and escaped, leaving me alone in the room with the baby. I held her very tightly because when my Flier friends left, they broke the seal. The demon-human started moving towards the room, and I jumped out at the same time and made a run for it. I flew as fast as I could, very scared because the demon-human's reinforcements were also moving towards me. I held the baby tightly.
A demon-human flew close to me and I dodged away, but she wasn't attacking. "Oh poor you, don't you even realize what you're holding?" she said with a very nice smile.
I looked down and realized I was just holding a doll.
The baby had been taken by the demon-humans already.
---
I woke up and I felt like a failure. At the same time I was like WOW! What did I eat last night? I have no idea why I had such a vivid dream and why I could remember so many details. I haven't had one of those dreams in a long time. Anyway yeah there's a bunch of plot holes, like how Fliers don't have super powers and then they did, and why didn't the demon-human mom take the baby as soon as she killed her husband.
Just had to write that down because it was an awesome dream and I didn't want to forget it. Now back to work.
